There is something inherently romantic about Christmas. Maybe it’s the cold weather that makes us want to snuggle up with our significant other opening Christmas presents in front of a roaring log fire; although the log fire is now more likely to be of the gas variety. Perhaps it’s the way Christmas is just more magical than any other time of year, filled with fairy lights twinkling and candles flickering (just remember that you should never leave a naked flame unattended). Maybe it’s the way we all make bit more effort with our appearance at this time of year as even the most sartorially reserved women sport dresses with enough sequins to allow them to pass themselves off as magicians’ assistants. Republished by Blog Post Promoter I am a receptionist at a local newspaper, and for the past couple of weeks people from businesses and universities have been bringing in Christmas gifts for our office, (a box of oranges, a plate of holiday cookies, etc.) and I was just wondering what we could do to thank them for such a kind gesture. In some cases, the universities are 20 miles (or more) away and I personally feel like it is such a kind thought to bring gifts and treats to us. Many women on the other hand would pick shopping over all these activities. They may have battled in the courts to gain their rights and to have equality in the work place, but at home men and women still have very different interests. It’s true that not all women hate football and not all men hate shopping. However, just as most women will never understand the offside rule, most men will never understand shopping. Job wise; I don’t make a whole lot and probably earn the least amount of money out of all my friends. I want to be generous for Christmas gifts, but am I being too generous?
